We are building a new place of hope for Acholi families in Uganda

Understand Our Mission

Our mission at Fig Tree and Vine is to create a new fully functional and self-sustaining village for thousands of oppressed Acholi people in Uganda. Our project will dramatically improve the conditions and well-being of Acholi lives now for generations to come. This self-sustaining village will have a private school system, housing, clean water, non-denominational church, medical clinic, community center, livestock, and various fruit and vegetable crops, including a coffee and banana plantation. We will instill children with the values and skills needed to create future Acholi leaders. We intend to not only have an immediate impact on thousands of lives, but to also serve as a model for other community projects that could transform the future of northern Uganda.

Uganda and the Acholi People

Decades ago, the Acholi people originally of northern Uganda were displaced from their homeland by civil war. Now with the peace and stability of the past 30 years, we hope to provide them a chance to return to their homeland from their current substandard living conditions in a southern Uganda refugee camp. Learn more about the Uganda, the Acholi culture, and their stories of perseverance.

Thousands of children are in need of help

We can immediately impact the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of Acholi children of all ages by building a new school system and placing their education as a top priority. They will become the future of Uganda that can inspire dramatic change.

Village Dream

Our goal is to build a fully functional and self-sustaining village. We purchased 100 acres of incredible land in the Acholi homeland near Gulu in northern Uganda and have started to fulfill our dream. We aim to provide reliable shelter, food, water, and education, as well as physical, emotional, and spiritual health to individuals who currently lack basic necessities. Our Efforts

Building a village requires resources! We have purchased 100 acres of land to start the project and are ready to build the school, housing, and medical system to support these children and families. We need to install several clean water wells on the property and purchase farm machinery, livestock, and various seeds for our crops. Learn about our present fundraising focus at our Current Priorities page.
